Titelbild Stefan Weis The BurgauersStefan Weis: „Entirely Unbeknown to His Homeland“
The Burgauers. History and Migrations of a Jewish Family from the mid-18th until the mid-20th Century

Written in 2013 this diploma thesis for the Innsbruck university introduces us to the history of a Hohenems family that over generations informed the development of Swiss Jewish communities, their origins and migrations. With a generous grant from the American Friends of the Jewish Museum Hohenems, made possible by the Leland Foundation (acqueline Burgauer-Leland and Marc Leland), we were able to publish this edited English translation of Stefan Weis’ book and to offer it as a download. English translation by Lilian Dombrowski.
Supported by the Leland Foundation, Jacqueline Burgauer-Leland and Marc Leland, London and the American Friends of the Jewish Museum Hohenems.
