European Day of Jewish Culture: Side-by-side or together in Hohenems? Public guided tour through the permanent exhibition (in German) There was a Jewish community in Hohenems for more than three hundred years. Its heyday was in the first half of the nineteenth century and common interests, prosperity and bourgeois self-confidence subsequently meant the Jews of Hohenems played an increasingly important part in everyday life in the market town. The Jewish Museum Hohenems takes its visitors on a journey through the permanent exhibition focusing on life as jewish minority within christian majority, on occupational and social encounters, on integration and exclusion. |
