Sun, 14. Sep 2014, 10:30-12:00 Jewish Women in Hohenems Public guided tour through the permanent exhibition (in German)

On the occasion of the European Day of Jewish Culture (Women in Judaism) Situated in the Villa Heimann-Rosenthal the Jewish Museum tells the story of nearly 400 years of Jewish history in Hohenems. Here we encounter eleven-year-old Wilhelmine, corresponding with her mother while being provided with a good education in far-away Munich. On the other hand we meet the single mother Mina Weil or the legendary landlady Jeanette Landauer. On the basis of their biographies we trace the lives of jewish women in Hohenems and give an impression of the possibilities and limitations which they saw themselves confronted with.
