Accompanying the exhibition “Kantormania – From Salomon Sulzer to The Jazz Singer” the Jewish Museum Hohenems presents cantorial music from different worlds and many centuries.
The CD introduces rare recordings from Jacob Bauer and Zawel Kwartin, Manfred Lewandowski and Al Jolson, Gershon Sirota and Yossele Rosenblatt, David Buzaglo and Joseph Schmidt, key compositions from Salomon Sulzer, Moritz Henle, Ovadia or Kurt Weill, historic recordings from Palestine made by Zwi Idelson as much as contemporary interpretations of synagogue music by Jalda Rebling, Shmuel Barzilai, Marcel Lang or Jack Kessler.
